FlamingoI had a most enjoyable morning at Slimbridge WWT reserve in the company of Gary Critchlow, a photographer from Loughborough.  On my last two visits it was like a massive building site so I was pleased to see that most of the work seems to have finished.  There are more walkways over water and most of the water is remarkably clean considering the concentration of captive (and visiting wild) birds.  The light was pretty good most of the time for photography and as ever there were lots of obliging subjects.

Although the thing I enjoy most about this venue is the large number of opportunities to photograph birds in flight, the flamingoes were out in force and I couldn't resist of few snaps as I went past.  The Zeiss hide was fun today as rooks were flying down from the rookery which is more or less behind it and collecting nesting material and flying back to line their nests.  Unfortunately I didn't manage to get one with a mouthful.  :(  The kingfisher hide again lived up to its name - ie the kingfishers were hiding.  Next time maybe!
