OverviewFamily - Swans, ducks and geese (Anatidae). The bird not in breeding plumage may have been an escape from a collection and was seen at Dittisham on the river Dart in July 2008. The rather fine male photographed today (22/12/09) was at Dunwear ponds in Bridgwater and was just as tame and keen on bread as the the motley collection of mallards and mallard hybrids that he was hanging out with. He presented a challenge in that he was often too close to photograph and was in the middle of a crowd of less photogenic companions. |
