Zebra spider

Bird photography and blog from Somerset and the rest of the UK together with insect and spider macros and general wildlife photography. The pictures date back to 2004 and have mainly been taken with Canon cameras and a mix of Canon and Sigma lenses.  I am currently using a Canon 7D with lenses covering a range from 24mm to 500mm.

I established this website in 2007 to share my photos with friends and fellow hobby photographers.  The format of the website has changed several times and I hope I now have it right!  The latest change has been to allow me to present better quality images and to have an integrated blog element.  I try to show the best pictures of each species that I have so far - some will be little more than record shots but I always try to replace poor shots with better ones when I get lucky!

I'm new to blogging but felt I'd like a way of recording my activity as much for myself as for others.  So many trips whether they're long ones or just down to my nearest birding spot hold something of interest and it's nice to put it on record.  If you want to chip in yourself with a comment please feel free.

Thanks for visiting and happy birding!

Tim

Hi James

Yes, you've got the idea. At present your photos are full resolution and then resized without reducing the file size. You need to reduce the size of the pictures within a software programme that will simultaneously. Pictures of those dimensions on my website would probably be about 100kb in file size whereas your files are about 2MB I think. That makes for a massive download time in comparison. I would guess you'll have got some software with your camera that might do the job??

Cheers

Tim

Hi there!

Thank you for your offer of assistance. I am a website novice! Do I need to reduce the size of the pictures to make it load faster!?
